The Ex-George Reed, Sebring 12 Hour, Multiple Race Winning 1962 Shelby Cobra MK1

  • Chassis Number: CSX 2051
  • Registration Number: 7 PXD
  • We are excited to be able to offer for sale one of the first of a select number of Shelby Cobra to ever race at an international level in period.
  • This stunning example is one of only 75 260 Cobra built. Billed new to Shelby America in November 1962, in white with a black interior, it has always been a race car from the start.
  • Sold new to renowned US racer George Reed, it made its debut in the 1963 Sebring 12 Hours.
  • Uprated to 289 specification for the 1964 season by its second owner Pat Manning, the car continued to be raced extensively with success, in period, with the SCCA and USRRC.
  • A multiple race winner both in period and in historic racing. Very few Cobra’s raced in international events in period such as Sebring and the Le Mans 24 Hours, and CSX 2051 is one of them.
  • Accompanied by a comprehensive spares package of wheels, gearbox and differential, FIA HTP’s valid until 2027, a UK road registration '7 PXD,' and boasting a collection of SCCA trophies from its triumphs early on in its life. CSX 2051 offers the rare opportunity to own one of the most documented and original examples of the few Shelby Cobra’s with period racing history.
